ArmA Finland general guidelines and rules

General guidelines and rules

Everyone who attends ArmA Finland games should take others into consideration and act with respect. The following guidelines have been created and translated to ensure fair and fun gameplay for everyone.

Age limit.

ArmA has a PEGI rating of 16. We do not monitor the age of players but we assume that underage players have the consent of their parents or guardians. First and foremost we expect mature behaviour from everyone.

Behavior

Be polite, friendly and take others into consideration. Whether it is a VOIP conversation or a forum topic, state your opinion politely. The atmosphere you create affects the whole community's atmosphere. Humor is a important part of our games, but all unnecessary fooling around, such as shooting for fun, misuse of grenades or explosives and vehicles or communication equipment leads to bad game and event experiences.

Fair play
Do not cheat or be unfair. All activities against "fair play" are strictly forbidden in our community and games. This involves hacking and scripting, but also taking advantage of game glitches, bugs and using unfair means of communication. For example, do not use bugs to get into places you are not supposed to get to or communicate in secret using some other VOIP program or chat, giving them information they could not have. A strict practice of "gentlemens rules" is expected.

Disciplinary actions
If a player causes problems with his behavior or breaks the rules, its the responsibility of ArmA Finland admins to take the player aside and discuss his behavior with him, and instruct him how to change it. If the player does not change his behaviour for the better, or the player refuses to discuss the problems, the player will be banned from AFI servers. The banned player should be in contact with the admins when he is ready to discuss the matter.

Game rules
The purpose of the game rules is to create a framework for a fun gaming experience based on co-operation, a tactical style of play and immersion. We want to keep the game rules as clear and minimal as possible. You should always consider how your actions affect other players experience; are my actions ruining the game experience in an unfair way for others? Even though it´s possible to do X, should I?

The course of game events

The organization of game events is handled by the game host and admin. They are responsible for the course of the game and make the final decisions in unclear situations. The host is responsible for guiding and informing the players. Admin makes decisions about what happens on the game server. In order to help the admin and host, listen to their instructions.

Enemy equipment and gear
The use of enemy weapons, equipment, radios and vehicles is forbidden, unless the mission rules state otherwise. Especially the use of equipment that needs specialist training breaks game immersion. In unclear situations, consult your leaders or a admin.

Text Chat
Text chat should only be used by admins to inform players, or by players to resolve technical difficulties. Do not write in the text chat or make map markers after the game has begun. Communicating with map markers during the game is forbidden for immersion purposes and to guarantee authenticity*

*Guests from other communites should inform admins if their gameplay requires markings on the map or similar requests for an event. Event and community specific execeptions are granted by the event organizer.

Solo tactics
Do not purposefully go behind enemy lines alone. Hunting for cheap frags is against our team centric game style. If you are alone or get cut off from your squad, find your way back to friendlies. If you get cut off from friendlies and you bump into enemies while you are alone, avoid contact and circle back to your own team in such a way it is unlikely that you will encounter enemies. If the enemy is overwhelming you, try to hide and preserve your virtual life. Consider the role you are playing; a modern soldier would strive to preserve his life at all cost in most situations.

You CANNOT order a single player outside your own formation or behind enemy lines. You CAN order a single player to move between friendly formations, but the principle must be that the area between friendlies can be assumed free of enemies.

You CAN use use pointmen and scouts, but you cannot order them outside your own formation. Visual contact should be easily established.

The reason for why solo tactics are not allowed is that a single player moving behind the formation compels leaders to leave player patrols behind to secure the rear. By avoiding solo tactics we can ensure that the maximum number of players are in the middle of the action and not stuck in the rear guard.

Ghosting
Using the spectator function and player streams to gather intel from enemy or friendly actions is strictly forbidden. If you use information from outside the game, or convey information to a player still in the mission using other means than the taskforceradio-teamspeak channel you are violating our rules.

By playing in our community games you accept the rules above and any possible disciplinary actions
